Margaret S. Cole, 79 of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Daviess County Nursing and Rehab. Services will be held at 3:00pm Monday, August 2, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin, where friends may call after 12:00pm Monday. No scheduled visitation; cremation following service, inurnment at later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin Senior Citizens Center, in care of the funeral home.

Margaret was born July 3, 1931, to Charles and Gladys (Anderson) Goodwin in Kansas City, Missouri, where she was raised. After graduating from Northeast High School, she went to San Diego, California to care for her brother, J.D. and also worked for Sears Roebuck. Margaret returned to Kansas City five years later and married Elzra Cole in 1954. He preceded her in death in 2005. The couple made their home in the city and raised four children; Sandy, Tim, Leslie and Jayne. Due to her failing health, she later moved to Gallatin to be near her children.

Margaret was a receptionist at a Doctor’s office for several years, a job she was dedicated to and cared for the people she served. In her spare time, Margaret enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She spent most of her life being a care taker and was always there to brighten the lives of others.

Margaret is preceded in death by her son: Leslie Cole, brothers: J.D. Goodwin and Gary Burge.

Survivors include her daughters: Sandy Dame, Jayne Cole; son: Timothy Cole; brothers: Richard Burge, David Goodwin, Charles Goodwin; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
